Eve Gives Adam the Forbidden Fruit

Eve bites into the forbidden fruit beneath the trees of Eden while Adam receives another fruit from her hand. The great tree rising beside them and the lush garden setting point directly to the moment of human disobedience in Genesis 3, when the desire for wisdom apart from God’s command led to the entrance of sin. Adam’s turned gaze and Eve’s act of eating capture the tragic exchange at the heart of the Fall: God’s good creation is still around them, yet trust has been broken.
